How I adore thee

Bippity Boppity Boo to you! Spring Break is next week for my children so we are headed South to the land of wonder today...I wonder how I am going to make it around Walt Disney with a broken big toe? Bad timing yes, and a little painful but really just a pain in the foot. More than anything I am looking forward to getting away with my oldest 2 children, husband, and possibly being able to relax a bit by the pool. So with that being said I am checking out for a few days and will catch you on Friday with a fantastic Feature. I will give you a little hint.. she is LA chic, talented, and has great things on the horizon!
I won't leave you this week without a few tidbits of fun that I have on my platter so I hope you are able to check all of them out for your own inspiration.

Huraraches

Rag and Bone has some killer clog huaraches for Spring that I have fallen in love with! How cute are these with shorts, jeans or even a dress. I had some when I was in grade school and I wore them to pieces...these might be my new Summer staple.

Lulu DK

The wildly talented and sensational Lulu DK debuted her first collection of art shown in a gallery this month in New York. Of course like LuLu, it does not disappoint. Vivid collages depict her inspiration from a life of travel and art.

Like any designer/artist I love seeing their work space and where magic starts. Lucky for us Lonny featured Lulu's home in one of their issues and her home office with a plethora of paint.

Trad Home

Now, I would not be a very good friend, blogger, colleague, or whatever I am to you if I did not pass on my knowledge of Trad Home because it is fantastic! Michelle Adams and Patrick Cline of Lonny partnered with Traditional Home to present an online magazine with designers who decorate using traditional decor but add fresh not overly trendy elements to their work...for me that is perfection. I have really enjoyed perusing the pages but I will say have a good cup of coffee or a glass of wine at your fingertips because there is a lot of wonderful inspiration for you!

Kate Middleton

A princess in waiting is terribly romantic and the marriage of Prince William of Wales to Miss Catherine Elizabeth Middleton in precisely 2 weeks will be one of the biggest historical events in many of our lifetimes. I have enjoyed seeing Miss Middleton through the years, as of lately reading all the quirky information about the Royal Monarchy and how this marriage is the hope for their future. Of course I enjoy her sense of style and think she is simply stunning. The hats for me put the British over the top and the future Princess certainly gives everyone a run for their money. Wedding coverage starts at 4 am April 29th in the States and I read somewhere yesterday that the official kiss on the balcony will be at 8:45 am I believe (please correct if I am wrong). As you can tell I am very excited!
Pimm's anyone?

Happy Weekend to You!

Hello my dear friends I am in need of divine inspiration today on this icky ice day. My current inspiration board is getting the heave ho, as in filed away for a rainy day and new images I have collected are going up for 2011. I loved the new issue of Lonny that went live yesterday...as always, like a kid in a candy shop! A lot of great images and always a favorite is designer Hillary Thomas. Her eclectic design is something that really attracts me and stirs up my creative senses. Thank you Hillary and others including Bunny Williams for helping me get my creative mojo back this week.

Fa la la la la

Joy, Joy the weekend is here and only 15 days until Christmas!
There are so many fun festivities happening in town this weekend and I can't wait to partake in a few of them.
As always I have some of my favorites for Friday and I do love to share.

For a limited time this holiday season Goldbug Studio is opening the door to their Folly Store for those of you who are looking for a special handmade gift. Ashley Carter's whimsical, fairy tale, glitter inspired "follies" have drawn national attention from celebrities, publications, and stores. Bergdorf Goodman and Anthropologie both have her lovelies as the gifts for the season. I will definitely stuffing some stockings with goodies from Goldbug.

Goldbug Studio

My home is pretty well decorated for the season but there is so much inspiration out there for holiday decor with beautiful images. I enjoy buying the greenery and always purchase Boxwood wreaths and garlands but when I see all the options from The Magnolia Company I second guess my decision and think maybe next year I should mix it up. Whether you prefer magnolia, evergreen, or boxwood they have an array of wreaths to satisfy any style.
One of my personal favorites is the stunning Holiday Red Lacquer Wreath shown below.

Lonny Magazine is live today and is packed full of chic interiors, holiday gift ideas, and inspiration for you. The Long Island home of designer Eileen Kathryn Boyd is a colorful breath of fresh air in this season where the color all around us tends to be a little bit more muted. A definite must read for the weekend.

I know that I sing the praises of the New Orleans confections shop Sucre but I really must say their holiday collection is by far one of my favorites. I always look to them for special goodies when I am marking off my Christmas list. Their peppermint bark, macaroons, drinking chocolate, and candies pecans are at the top of my list. Yes, I will take one of each.

For the last 3 or 4 years I have been working with Marie Cox of Phreckles Photography to photograph my family images and to create my holiday card. I typically tell her what I am feeling and she comes up with a fun photo for my children. I just wanted to share one of the images from this year's photo shoot as a sneak peek because she always does such a wonderful job and truly captures the twinkle in their eyes and the magic of the moment.

Happy Friday!

Ideas for your Holiday

This time of year is the best, there is nothing like snuggling up by a cozy fire after you have stuffed your belly so full from a yummy turkey with stuffing and a side of gravy. Yes, I said it and am very much looking forward to Thanksgiving and traveling to spend time with family!

Although there is nothing more I like than all the above than decorating for the holiday. My family travels for Thanksgiving so I decorate my home for the entire holiday season tweaking little things here and there in preparation for hosting Christmas.

The lovely Staci Edwards started us out this week with some of her favorite recipes and entertaining ideas so I thought I would show you a  few of my favorite table settings with special details to follow. Hope you enjoy!

A gorgeous table set by the master table designer Eddie Ross as shown in the current issue of Lonny magazine. Lovely warm tones and textures. What time do we eat?

Unknown

I adore the simplicity of this setting with all the white and the natural elements such as the bunch of pheasant feathers and wood adding warmth to the space.

Green and silver a gorgeous unexpected combo for a Thanksgiving celebration.

I do love decorating with pheasants and found this pair of vintage gold ones over at Matters of Style. You have time to scoop these up for your table this year.

This unique bird plate with a menu makes your setting one of a kind.

I think everyone can agree with me that we would all like to have our very own butter...

but if I could have my very own turkey shaped mold of butter I would feel very special! I saw this yesterday at The Fresh Market and had to scoop up a couple and yes they do have tiny Christmas trees too.

Fresh flowers are always a necessity

and a glimmer of candlelight for the evening with votives wrapped in corn husks adds an extra touch.

Have a wonderful weekend!
Elizabeth
